Metallica is releasing a children’s book. The ABCs of Metallica is due out on November 26, and part of the proceeds for the book will be donated to the band’s charity All Within My Hands (dedicated to “creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services”). You can preorder The ABCs of Metallica, along with packages featuring accompanying shirts for both toddlers and adults, at the band’s website.

Patrick Stump is working on a new soundtrack for the upcoming The Banana Splits Movie, a horror reboot of a popular 1960s kids’ show. The Banana Splits Adventure Hour was originally a children’s variety program that featured the Banana Splits, a fictional four-piece band of animal characters. The upcoming TV movie, however, gives the plotline a horror twist with the furry creatures going on a murder spree. The release date for the movie is yet to be determined. 

The 1975 have announced a new set of U.S. tour dates coming up this fall. Kicking things off on November 16 in Camden, NJ, the band will go on to play shows in Raleigh, Greenville, and New Orleans before wrapping things up in Broomfield, CO on December 1. The five-date affair follows a string of previously-announced tour dates spanning Europe, Asia, and Oceania, and marks the band’s second U.S. leg of the year.

Woodstock 50’s application for a permit to host the floundering festival at the Vernon Downs horse racing track in upstate New York has been denied, Varietyreports. A festival spokesperson stated that organizers plan to appeal the decision. Woodstock 50 was originally scheduled to take place at the Watkins Glen International auto racing track, also in upstate New York. Organizers lost that venue license last month. The anniversary event remains scheduled to take place, if only in our hearts, on August 16–18. Jay-Z, the Killers, and Dead & Company were booked to headline. Read Variety’s report here.

Spoon bassist Rob Pope has exited the band. Pope, who is also a founding and current member of The Get Up Kids, announced in a statement posted to Instagram that he will be moving on from the group to “in order to spend more time with family and personal projects.” Pope joined Spoon in 2006.

Tegan and Sara have announced their ninth studio album, Hey, I’m Just Like You. Per a press release, the album is a collection of songs the duo wrote as teenagers, reworked and reimagined for 2019. The duo’s joint memoir High School is due out this fall, and the album is out on September 27 via Sire.

Marilyn Manson said in a new interview with Revolver that he will appear in CBS’ forthcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s plague horror novel The Stand. Manson and country singer Shooter Jennings also recorded a cover of the Doors’ “The End” for the mini-series.
